Living life on the borderline

Stigma and lies.

Posted on: April 12, 2010

Okay. I am p***ed.

Earlier, I was looking around some blogs, like you do, and I came across this particular one about women with BPD and NPD (Narcisstic Personality Disorder). This blog is written by a woman with a supposed PhD in psychology and used to be in practice. In said blog, she labels women with personality disorders as “abusive”, “crazy”, “manipulative” and violent. She encourages all men to avoid relationships with these “emotionally abusive personalities”. In her practice, she didn’t like working with people with PDs because, in her words, they are “crazymaking”.

And there are men replying and agreeing and talking about divorcing their wives because they reckon they’ve got BPD.

Let me just make something clear before this sounds really b****y.

Borderline Personality Disorder is a mental illness. It does not necessarily mean that you are abusive. Not all abusers have BPD and not everyone with BPD is an abuser. Period.

I know that people have free speech but… it’s just really upset me. One of my abusers used to say that I was the one abusing him and that I had anger issues when I got upset with him treating me badly. It’s like being back with him all over again.

In my opinion, she should not be in practice. But that’s just my opinion. I can’t do anything and it scares me to think there are therapists out there that are like this.

I need to do something about it but I don’t know what? I don’t know what to do or think but it’s really hurting and bringing up a lot of horrible stuff.
